199 franchises, over 1,000 McDrive restaurants, around 65,000 employees from 114 nations, 61 percent raw materials from Germany: these figures show not only how diverse the McDonald's brand is, but also how much it belongs to Germany. In the more than 5 decades since the first restaurant opened in Munich in 1971, McDonald's has become an integral part of society. From 24.05.2022 now also in Berlin's Europacenter.
It is not only the range of products in the restaurants that is diverse. As a new member of the Diversity Charter, McDonald's actively supports the idea of a multicultural working world. And the company with headquarters in Munich can back up this promising approach with very practical figures: around 65,000 people from 114 nations work in the restaurants and administrative offices in Germany.
The principle of giving something back to society was already espoused by company founder Ray Kroc. Following this credo, the company not only supports the McDonald's Children's Aid Foundation, but is also involved at a local level through its franchisees.
Beef from up to 56,000 local farmers, potatoes from the Hildesheim Börde region, sauces made in Bavaria. With strong partnerships and the shortest possible supply routes, McDonald's underlines its commitment to German agriculture and the promotion of sustainable supply chains. For example, 60 % of the raw materials already come from Germany, because the company pays particular attention to the selection and quality of its ingredients, whenever possible, to ensure that the raw materials used are sourced locally. For example, McDonald's has been working with 40 suppliers in Germany for over 20 years - including many well-known brand manufacturers from Germany such as Develey, Lieken and Hochland.
