REWE is coming to the Europa Centre: The food retailer will move into a sales area of 1,500 square metres in 2026. The product range will include around 17,000 items. The centrepiece of the modern shop concept is the marketplace with fruit, vegetables and a salad bar. Serving counters with meat, cheese and delicatessen products emphasise the focus on freshness, as does a wide selection of cold meats and dairy products. The "deli am Markt" bistro will serve hot meals as well as drinks and sandwiches. "Plant-based foods, organic products and ready-to-eat items such as wraps, baked goods and smoothies are particularly popular in such central locations. We are also thinking about urban customers when it comes to check-out and are installing sufficient self-checkout terminals," says Andreas Schmitz, Expansion Manager at REWE. Thanks to Scan&Go technology, customers will be able to scan their groceries as they walk along the shelves - either using a hand scanner or their own smartphone.
